PARISH LIBRARY: |
|
|
|
Please feel
free to select any of these featured books from the I.O.P Parish Library:
The Infant of Prague
Parish Library is located in the Parish
Center Rectory and items are located at the
Cleveland Dr entrance into the Church, at
the Foisset gathering space, and in the
Chapel. Please stop in and browse all the
available books, literature, and resources.
This listing below provides only a
glimpse of the many books, literature, and
resources available. Please stop in to see
the entire available selection.
If you are new to IOP, there are some
resources at the Parish Library which you
can check out to familiarize yourself with
the parish. One resource which you can
borrow is a copy of the 50th Anniversary
Book, which lists the history of many parish
events and organizations as well as a
history of the Infant of Prague devotion.
Also available are copies of the photo
directory of the parish which was published
for our 60th anniversary in 2006. These
books are free and you may take a copy to
keep. Please stop by the Parish Library
resources in he Parish Center to access any
of these resources.
We have some changes in our Parish Library’s
operation. First, you no longer have to sign
out materials. Just help yourself to what is
available and return it when you are
finished (Most people return items in about
2-4 weeks). Also items can now be found in
the space near the back sacristy door and by
the Thruway entrance as well as the Foisset,
Cleveland Dr and Chapel entrances. In
addition, short articles or pamphlets are
available, like those describing the Pope’s
recent overseas travel, President Obama’s
speech at Notre Dame or the “Top Ten
Questions Asked of Catholics”, just to name
a few. At this time we would ask that no
donations be made to the Library. Thanks to
the generous contribution of many, our
shelves are quite full and space is limited.
If you are looking for a particular item,
there is an index of topics available.
Did you know we have VCR tapes and
children's books about Mary, the Mother of
God? Look for "Mary of Nazareth" or "Through
Mary's Eyes," as well as books on the
Scriptural Rosary, Our Lady of Fatima,
Lourdes and Guadalupe.
Some new and thoughtful resources to
explore: "Pope Benedict XVI" his writings
and thoughts. "Jesus of Nazareth" - written
by the Pope, portrays a rich flesh and blood
portrait of Jesus (large print version). "He
Did This Just For You" - reflections on the
passion and promises of Jesus. "For the
Children" - words of love from Pope John
Paul II.

Why? Trusting God When You Don't
Understand - by Anne Graham - Lotz

trusting God when bad things are happening
all around you when pain is sharp and doubt
is deep, and its impossible to see the sense
of it all? This book helps us keep our eye
on the big picture of who God is, what His
purposes are, and how He passionately cares
about His children. It helps us understand
how God can use your most baffling trails
for your growth and for His glory."

The Holy Spirit - Unbounded Gift of Joy -
by Mary Ann Fatula

fruit of knowing the Holy Spirit s a happy
heart. The Holy Spirit heals our wounds,
eases our struggles, and transforms our
lives. Inspired by this sentiment, this book
draws insights of Scripture, the Fathers of
the Church, and the Christian saints,
mystics, and theologians of the East and
West, as they contemplate rich dimensions of
the Holy Spirit's enchanting person and
power among us."

Theology For Today's Catholic: A Handbook
- by Stephen Rehrauer, CSSR
Brief Overview: "Most of our
religious education is geared almost
exclusively to children. As children we may
not have learned in our religious education
classes how to understand and make sense out
of what we believe. However, what we learned
at the age of eight may not be of much help
to us as grownups. This book presents not
only what we believe as Catholics, but why
we believe it. It offers a method for adults
to use in seeking answers to the questions
raised by our adult faith. This book will
benefit anyone who wishes to better
understand the Catholic faith and to learn
how to 'think through' the questions that
their youthful catechesis did not
cover."
