PARISH LIBRARY:

Please click the link in the left hand column to sample some of the resources available in the Parish Library.

If you are new to IOP, there are some resources at the Parish Library which you can check out to familiarize yourself with the parish. One resource which you can borrow is a copy of the 50th Anniversary Book, which lists the history of many parish events and organizations as well as a history of the Infant of Prague devotion. Also available are copies of the photo directory of the parish which was published for our 60th anniversary in 2006. These books are free and you may take a copy to keep. Please stop by the Parish Library resources in he Parish Center to access any of these resources.

We have some changes in our Parish Library’s operation. First, you no longer have to sign out materials. Just help yourself to what is available and return it when you are finished (Most people return items in about 2-4 weeks). Also items can now be found in the space near the back sacristy door and by the Thruway entrance as well as the Foisset, Cleveland Dr and Chapel entrances. At this time we would ask that no donations be made to the Library. Thanks to the generous contribution of many, our shelves are quite full and space is limited. If you are looking for a particular item, there is an index of topics available.

Scripture Reflections:

For Sunday February 21st, 2010

 First Sunday of Lent:
First Reading: Deuteronomy 26:4-10(24C)11
Second Reading: Romans 10:8-13
Gospel: Luke 4:1-13

  • SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME: Most of us tend to keep our focus on the now and to a large extent this is necessary. However, in today’s Gospel, the Beatitudes invite another stance. Even being caught up in the cares of everyday living, we can still keep our eyes on Jesus Christ and what we are really seeking—eternal life with Him. It is our relationship to God that motivates us to reach out to others in His name.

AREA EVENTS:

  • CATHOLIC MEN’S CONFERENCE: The Catholic Men’s Fellowship of WNY is sponsoring its annual Catholic Men’s Conference on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm at Cardinal O’Hara High School. More information is available at www.spiritiscalling.org or at 635-8333. There are also information bulletins you can take on the bulletin boards at the Church and Chapel. The conference is geared towards Catholic fathers and sons, brothers, friends, priests, deacons, seminarians, laity, single,
married, divorced men—all who are interested in spending a day of brotherhood, renewal and inspiration.

Welcome Home!

You are a stranger but once. You are a child of God, redeemed by Our Savior, Jesus Christ. In God's name, we welcome you. May you find friendship, peace, and serenity in our loving and worshipping community. If you are a visitor interested in joining our parish community or the Catholic Faith, please call the parish office. If you are returning after being away....Welcome home! It is our hope that our community will help you mature in your faith and grow in your love of Jesus, and that your presence among us will enrich and strengthen the life of our community. The center of our parish’s life is our communal celebration of the Eucharist, and the life that we celebrate and share in when we gather together to worship God at Mass, finds expression in the various ministries, organizations and activities of our parish. It is our sincere hope that you will consider the ways in which you can become an active member of our faith community by using the gifts and talents God has given you to help build up God’s Kingdom here in our midst.
