PARISH
LIBRARY:
Please click the link in the left hand column to
sample some of the resources available in the
Parish Library.
If you are new to IOP, there are some
resources at the Parish Library which you can
check out to familiarize yourself with the
parish. One resource which you can borrow is a
copy of the 50th Anniversary Book, which lists
the history of many parish events and
organizations as well as a history of the
Infant of Prague devotion. Also available are
copies of the photo directory of the parish
which was published for our 60th anniversary
in 2006. These books are free and you may take
a copy to keep. Please stop by the Parish
Library resources in he Parish Center to
access any of these resources.
We
have some changes in our Parish Library’s
operation. First, you no longer have to sign out
materials. Just help yourself to what is
available and return it when you are finished
(Most people return items in about 2-4 weeks).
Also items can now be found in the space near
the back sacristy door and by the Thruway
entrance as well as the Foisset, Cleveland Dr
and Chapel entrances. In addition, short
articles or pamphlets are available, like those
describing the Pope’s recent overseas travel,
President Obama’s speech at Notre Dame or the
“Top Ten Questions Asked of Catholics”, just
to name a few. At this time we would ask that no
donations be made to the Library. Thanks to the
generous contribution of many, our shelves are
quite full and space is limited. If you are
looking for a particular item, there is an index
of topics available.
Did
you know we have VCR tapes and children's books
about Mary, the Mother of God? Look for
"Mary of Nazareth" or "Through
Mary's Eyes," as well as books on the
Scriptural Rosary, Our Lady of Fatima, Lourdes
and Guadalupe.
Some new and thoughtful resources to explore:
"Pope Benedict XVI" his writings and
thoughts. "Jesus of Nazareth" -
written by the Pope, portrays a rich flesh and
blood portrait of Jesus (large print version).
"He Did This Just For You" -
reflections on the passion and promises of
Jesus. "For the Children" - words of
love from Pope John Paul II.
